Puli Bongaralu
Ingredients
Combine
1 cup dosa batter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
Curry leaves, torn into bits
Coriander, finely chopped
Salt to taste
Pinch of turmeric powder
Pinch of baking powder
Pan / Deep Fry
Oil
Method
- To the dosa batter, add finely chopped onions, chillies, ginger, curry leaves, coriander, salt, turmeric powder, baking powder, and mix well.
- To make puli bongaralu, you can either deep fry or pan fry
- Deep fry in hot oil by dropping small tablespoons of batter and fry until golden.
- Pan fry in an Appe griddle (a special griddle that has several round depressions)
- Heat the griddle and grease each depression with oil.
- Gently drop the batter into the depressions. Do not fill the batter to the brim as it will rise while cooking.
- Cover and cook for a few minutes on low flame.
- Open and flip the puli bongaralu to ensure uniform cooking.
- Serve hot with chutney.
