Vakadu Chapala Pulusu
Ingredients
Marinate
½ kg fish (Murrel), sliced
Salt to taste
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
3 teaspoons chilli powder
2 teaspoons coriander powder
Seasoning
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
Saute
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
20 curry leaves
Add
½ cup tamarind juice
Roast & Powder
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
Add
1 teaspoon ghee

Method
- Clean the fish, marinate with salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and coriander powder.
- Heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies, curry leaves, and saute.
- Add ½ cup water and tamarind juice and bring it to a boil.
- Stir in the fish slices, cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add ½ cup water, roasted coriander-fenugreek seeds powder, and ghee.
- Cover and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Adjust salt and tamarind juice as per taste.
- Garnish with coriander.
